Every Real Agent Marketing site starts with one decision: does your agency’s brand lead, or yours?
Both are personal websites, on your own domain, about you. The difference is whose logo and colours people see first.
Co-branded: your agency leads, you’re the face
A co-branded site uses your agency’s name, logo and colours in the header, with you front and centre on every page. It looks like part of your agency’s family, and it reads as “Jordan Reyes, from Harbourline Property”.
It suits you if:
- your agency’s name is well known and trusted in your area
- your agency has strong brand guidelines and expects agents to follow them
- you’re early in your career and the agency’s name opens doors
Check first: your agency’s brand guidelines. Using an agency’s logo and colours usually needs their permission, and many agencies are happy to give it to agents building their own profile.
Self-branded: your name leads
A self-branded site uses your own name, or a personal brand like “Jordan Reyes Property”, with your own colour. Your agency still appears on every page as your licensee, but it’s no longer the headline.
It suits you if:
- your own name already carries weight with vendors in your suburbs
- you want a brand that stays the same if you change agencies
- you work across several areas or property types and want a consistent identity
Your agency still appears either way
Real estate advertising in every Australian state has to identify the licensed agency behind it. So whichever option you choose, your site shows your agency’s name and licence details. Self-branding changes what leads. It doesn’t remove your licensee.
Check your state regulator’s guidance if you’re unsure what your advertising needs to show.
What stays the same
Whichever you pick:
- the domain is registered to you
- the words are written from your brief, in your voice
- your listings, enquiry form and digital business card work the same way
- you can switch later
That last point matters. Plenty of agents start co-branded and move to their own brand as their reputation grows. Changing over is a setting in your brief and one click to republish. Your domain, your content and your enquiries carry straight over.
A quick way to decide
Ask yourself one question: when a vendor recommends you to a friend, which name do they use, yours or your agency’s?
If it’s your agency’s, start co-branded. If it’s yours, it might be time for your own brand.
